CJI Khehar suggest Centre to allow a window for genuine people to deposit old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency
The Chief Justice of India J S Khehar said “Allow a window for genuine people…where it is not such cases which we entertained in court. We are satisfied with their reasons for not depositing the old notes but there ids no window,”.
The Court further said “Take the money and do whatever after verification If u don’t do it then there is a serious issue”.
After the end of demonetisation period the Centre has not allowed anyone to deposit old Rs 500 or Rs 1000 notes, only those were allowed to do so who were aboard during the period.
The Bench led by CJI heard PIL’s regarding Modi’s speech that he gave on 31st December assuring people that genuine people will be able to deposit old currency, but nothing was done in respect to his speech.
To this SC has suggested the Centre to open windows to allow genuine persons deposit their old currency, the SC also suggested that a person should only be allowed to do so only after validating the authenticity of the reasons or case of the person.
