Petition against Order of Gauhati High Court Dismissed

Supreme Court on February 23, 2018 issued an order in which the court asked Central government to consider suggestions made by all parties concerned and decide expeditiously the issue concerning safety standards of quadricycles, a lightweight four-wheeler and also four wheelers of mass upto 1500 Kg.

The bench of Justice UU Lalit and Justice AK Goel after taking into consideration the statement made by Union that ‘safety and emission issue of lightweight vehicle and quadricycle are at final stage of consideration by the Ministry of Road Transport’ allowed parties to file their suggestions to the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport, Central Government within period of 2 weeks.

The bench said “It is made clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of its rival contentions and are disposing of all these matters with direction that suggestion of petitioner instead of being considered by this court be considered by the concerned authority of the central government”

The Petition was initiated by Union of India and Anr. against the order and judgment passed by Gauhati High Court.
