Unique helpline number launched by the Delhi High Court
Delhi High Court’s acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal launched “1888” on Monday, a helpline no to make it easy for everyone to access justice.
Right now, the helpline only provides advance booking of wheelchair for differently-abled litigants but very soon the helpline will be available for litigants to access various information and assistances.
The High Court said, “To begin with, the helpline facility is proposed to be used for providing wheelchair assistance to differently-abled litigants to traverse the passage into and through the high court building, for which they can make advance reservation by way of making a call or sending an SMS on the helpline.”
Any call on the helpline line will be attended by a designated officer and he will make further arrangements as per requirement of the caller. Any appointment or booking can also be made through sms. Apart from a designated officer two standby officers are also appointed to handle the calls and sms when the designated officer is not around.
While other telephone operators are being coordinated, only airtel subscribers can make a call on the helpline number, others can call high court exchange no. 43010101 and their calls will be transferred to the designated officer.
